Miles Ran Today: 2
Average Pace: 10:31 / mi

I know, that seems like a pitiful run. In actuality, I am just adding some short mileage runs so I can get that much more time on my feet. It also gives me the opportunity to run with my dog, Molly. I need all the help I can get tiring her out so she is not such a spaz. She is just over five months old and full of energy. It seems the run tired her out (see the picture below). I will be doing this short run every day in addition to my regular running schedule (which I will post as soon I get it).

So I started to half marathon training in January. I was committed at first to the training schedule put together by the person I work with (I will refer to him as Mr. Smith). Then February rolled around and bad weather came with it. So, needless to say, I did not run near as much as I needed to to. But in March I recommitted myself to the schedule. After that I rarely missed a day of running.

Miles Ran Today: 4
Average Pace: 9:37 / mi

This was an easy recovery run from Sunday's half marathon. Although it was supposed to be a slower pace, I found myself pushing to run fast. I find it difficult to run at a nice easy pace. I suppose I need to gain this skill, as I will need it for my long run days.

When I began to attempt to train for a marathon again in November 2010, I was fortunate enough to discover I work with someone who has actually trained people for marathons. I talked with him about my desire to run a marathon, and he wisely talked me out of it. I hadn't been running regularly in several months, and the time needed to work me up to 20 miles just wasn't there. So we decided on the half marathon and decided it would be part of my training to a full marathon. In hindsight, wise decision; but I felt I was letting myself down by not deciding to run a full.

Miles Ran Today: 0
Average Pace: N/A

Well, it begins. Yesterday I ran the furthest I have ever ran. Thirteen point one miles. And I loved it. So, I shall continue to run.

Long ago I made a promise to myself I would run a full marathon. Not sure why or when; it was just one of those crazy thoughts I sometimes have. I have been putting off that promise for quite a while now. Don't get me wrong, I have attempted to fulfill the promise on several occasion; but I just couldn't motivate myself to do it. Last November, I started again.

To be continued...
